As one of the fastest growing counties in the state
and nation, Collin County is making infrastructural enhancements to accommodate
the increasing population and road traffic. According to the North
Central Texas Council of Governments, the population of Collin County grew to 764,500 in 2009, signaling a phenomenal 52-percent increase since the 2000 Census. As the County continues to grow, an increasing number of local residents will travel to employment sites within Collin County which will place a great burden on our existing transportation system. Consequently, a cooperative and comprehensive solution to alleviate the existing and projected mobility problems is a constant work-in-progress for the County Commissioners.
Over the last few years, several major projects have been initiated by
various entities, including the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT),
the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit
(DART). Many projects are currently underway while others are still in
the planning stages. The following is a list of projects which are considered
