Lake Lavon Bridge Route Study

The Lavon Lake Bridge Route Study is a result of 2007 bond election, in which voters approved funding for a preliminary route study to find the optimum alignment should a bridge be built across Lavon Lake. The county is not building a bridge at this time, only trying to determine the best alignment possible for a bridge in the area.

As of Fall 2009, we are moving ahead with the planning stages of the alignment study. Beyond that, there is no further funding available or authority issued to proceed with other phases of a construction project such as a comprehensive environmental analyses, right-of-way determinations or acquisitions, or final engineering plans.

HNTB Corporation has been hired to develop the various geometric alignments within the study area, evaluate those alignments based on project criteria, and then recommend a preferred alignment for approval by the Collin County Commissioners Court. But first, alternative alignments will be compared using Environmental, engineering, cost and public opinion criteria.

Public Meetings

Public Meetings will be held during the study, including a final Public Hearing at the conclusion of the study.
