The Traffic Safety Deputies perform traffic law enforcement services predominantly in rural and non-incorporated areas of the precinct. Their duties include enforcement of motor vehicle laws, rendering first aid and assisting other law enforcement agencies. The Traffic Safety Division was created in 1992 at the request of numerous residents within the precinct having concerns of the traffic in their neighborhoods and on the Farm to Market Roads.

Constable Elkins ensures each deputy is trained thoroughly in traffic enforcement and patrol procedures prior to assignment in the traffic safety division. The deputies assigned in this division also work in the rural areas on trash and rubbish enforcement. In 2004 the division is credited with 6530 pounds of trash along our roadways being picked up and hauled to the North Texas Refuse Center by the individuals responsible for the dumping.
