School
Breakfast Program - The School Breakfast Program
(SBP) provides cash assistance to States to operate nonprofit breakfast
programs in schools and residential childcare institutions. The program
operates in more than 72,000 schools and institutions, serving a daily
average of some 7.4 million children. It is administered at the Federal
level by FNS. State education agencies administer the SBP at the State
level, and local school food authorities operate it in schools.
The
National School Lunch Program - (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal
program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential
child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost
or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established
under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman
in 1946.
Rising
Star Scholars Program - Recognizing that there are those who truly
lack the personal finances needed for college - even the affordable rates
offered by the DCCCD - the Foundation has established the new Rising Star
Scholars Program.
Pregnancy,
Education, and Parenting (PEP) -The mission of the Pregnancy, Education,
and Parenting Program is to enable school-age parents, through education,
to become self-sufficient, responsible, job-oriented citizens. The Programs
goal is to reduce the number of students who drop out of school due to
pregnancy and/or parenthood and to recover young parents who are 21 years
old or younger to the educational system.
