Public Health Emergency Management

Objectives and Activities

  • Enhance preparedness and planning efforts for natural and man-made public health emergencies through plan development and staff training
  • Distribute medical countermeasures (e.g., medication or vaccine) during large-scale public health emergency within 48 hours
  • Organize and conduct training and exercises for pandemic influenza, Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) deployment, redundant communications, and other response activities
  • Educate residents regarding disease prevention and control
  • Oversee the Collin County Medical Reserve Corps
  • Assist with coordination of functional needs support services for shelter-in-place, evacuation, and sheltering events
  • Improve inter-agency and inter-jurisdictional coordination through development of agreements and routine participation with
    • hospitals,
    • schools,
    • city emergency management,
    • adjacent county departments,
    • Texas Department of State Health Services,
    • North Central Texas Council of Government,
    • North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council,
    • private partners, and
    • non-profit, faith-based and community organizations
