Susan Fletcher took her oath of office Nov. 14, as the newly elected Collin County Commissioner for Precinct 1, representing West Plano, Frisco, Prosper, Celina and Northwest McKinney.
Flanked by her husband and teenage son, Commissioner Fletcher was sworn in at the county courthouse's Central Jury Room, attended by family, friends and county officials. She was elected in November to fulfill the remaining two years of an unexpired four-year term for the Precinct 1 Commissioner. That term will expire on Dec. 31, 2016.
A native of Sherman and Grayson County, and resident of Frisco for the past 18 years, Commissioner Fletcher holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Interior Design and Industrial Technology from the University of North Texas in Denton. She has a professional background in commercial interior construction where she has worked for both corporate institutions in the banking and software industry as well as freelance as an independent contractor.
Commissioner Fletcher has also served in many leadership roles in the community. Currently, she serves on the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy which regulates the state's CPA industry. She has also served as Chair of the Collin County Healthcare Foundation Advisory Board, which advises the Commissioners Court on state-mandated indigent healthcare.
