Helping “Doggie Doe” Get Home

(MCKINNEY, Texas) – Doggie Doe needs help. He’s lost his owner, which is usually the case with dogs ending up at Collin County’s animal shelter, but Doggie Doe’s story is unique.

When the adult male Labrador Retriever (see attached photos), was found at Lucas Road in Lucas on December 7, 2011, he clearly belonged to a caring owner. He had just undergone shoulder surgery, as his stitches were fresh and he was wearing a paper collar. He also had an embedded identification chip. And he is very well behaved, extremely sociable and loving, and well trained in obedience (and a few tricks, as the shelter staff and volunteers have discovered) so he exhibits no signs of a neglected or abused background.

Unfortunately, Doggie Doe’s ID chip is apparently unregistered and thus contains no contact information, and no one has contacted the shelter to claim him, so he is still waiting to go home, wherever that may be.

The media is asked to spread the word, with hopes that the lab’s owner will hear that he is still alive and well. There is no doubt that, at the time he got lost, he was well cared for and loved. It’s hoped that his owner can be found, and that Doggie Doe can be returned, whether near or far away.

If the lab’s owner cannot be found, he will remain available for adoption to another good home.

Video of Doggie Doe may be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s05pXFWwzPs. His reference ID number at the Animal Shelter is 329266.  Because no identification was found on him, the shelter volunteers have temporarily named him “Reno.”  Anyone with information or questions regarding him can contact the shelter at (972) 547-7292 or animalshelter@collincountytx.gov.
