Keith Self appointed
John D. Thomas of Fairview as County Commissioner for Precinct 3.
"John Thomas is well-qualified to serve the wide-ranging policy and responsibilities of a county commissioner," said Judge Self after swearing in Thomas this morning. "I am delighted that he agreed to serve until the Commissioners Court canvasses the November 2018 election results."
Thomas, a 61-year-old former information technology executive, will fill the Precinct 3 position vacated by Commissioner
Chris Hill, who resigned last week a year after being re-elected to his second term.
He will represent Precinct 3 through November 2018, until an election decides who will finish the remaining two years of Hill's term. Thomas will be formally sworn into office in front of the entire
Commissioners Court on Monday.
Thomas has more than 30 years as a senior executive at fortune 500 corporations, working in operations, information technology, cyber security, finance and real estate. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and served as an Army Captain and Airborne Ranger. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School.
Thomas and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for 37 years. They have four grown children and five grandchildren living in Collin County and Washington state.
