Lieutenant
General Charles G. Rodriguez is the Adjutant General for the State of
Texas. He assumed the role of Adjutant General on 1 June 2005. Lieutenant
General Rodriguez is stationed at Camp Mabry in Austin, TX. As Adjutant
General, he is responsible for commanding over 21,000 soldiers, airman,
and civilians of the Texas Military Forces, which includes the Texas Army
and Air National Guard, the State Guard and the Adjutant General's Department.
Units under his command include the Joint Force Headquarters, the Joint
Force Air and Land Component Commands, the 36th Infantry Division, the
147th and 149th Fighter Wings and the 136 Airlift Wing.
Lieutenant General Rodriguez began his military service
in 1975. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy into the Signal Corps.
He served 8 years on active duty with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault)
Division in the light infantry, combat engineer and tactical signal battalions.
He also served with the G3 operations office of the 1st Armored Division
and as the division's Signal Battalion Headquarters Company Commander.
Subsequently, he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve where he served
11 years, with tours in the NSA, USACOM, and USMA and as the USAR Signal
Detachment Commander. Since joining the Texas Army National Guard in 1995,
Lieutenant General Rodriguez commanded the 136th Regional Training Regiment
(Combat Arms). In addition, he served during Operation Enduring Freedom
and Operation Iraqi Freedom I. Prior to becoming the Adjutant General
of Texas, Lieutenant General Rodriguez served as the Assistant Adjutant
General for Homeland Defense, Texas Joint Forces Headquarters and designated
commander (contingency dual status, Title 32 and Title 10, at the direction
of the Adjutant General and the Secretary of Defense) in Texas for domestic
Joint Forces operations.
